Poll: Necro...and?
This is a poll to see what the general consensus is on the favorite necro secondary. It's to help me choose and to get an understanding on what most people play. Feel free to list your build along with you secondary.

It really depends on what your Necro is used for..
MM - very common N/Mo for Heal Area
SS - common to see N/Me for Arcane Echo

Necro/mes seems to be the best overall combo. Curses and the mes spells go along with each other pretty well.

For PvP puposes Mes/N is better.
For PvE it doesn't matter what you bring. You can win in PvE no matter what you bring.
For the curse line a Mes primary is much better because of the usual 2 second casting on most of their hexes. Energy is never an issue if you do your build correctly.
Orders and BR are better on a Mes primary. Even Tainited is better on a Mes primary. Only a few build for PvP really need to be necro primary.

While I will be the first to agree that Me/* for most of the casting classes has significant advantages in PvP (due to fast casting and energy management), I'd have to assume that the person is asking for a necromancer secondary on purpose (most likely, PvE purposes).
So, to answer the secondary question:
For minion mastering, Mo is the obvious choice but not always the best. Heal area can be great for minions but I've also found it is often possible to keep blood renewal running enough to spam blood of the master. Plus blood of Master has a much greater range. So, why might you choose other secondaries as an MM? N/Me - great against interrupts + E management, N/R - bring your own low lvl pet to feed your minion 'factory', N/E - glyphs to lower the E cost of high lvl minions (fiends & vampirics), N/Rt - heard this can be good for healing the groups but unfortunately I have no experience yet.
So, as for other builds, I would have to say /Me in most cases. You get E management plus either echo for curses or degen (phantasm/nightmare/etc.) to add to blood skills.

N/E is good for MM. You can use Glyph of Lesser Energy for your Flesh Golem, and you can also bring Ward vs Melee, which helps a lot.

*/mo is the best in PvE period.
When you're in a group, how many have monk secondaries?
60-90%

Nec/Ranger is best in PvE for 1 skill all by itself: Serpent's Quickness.
Plus you get other nifty things along side it like: pets if you want them, healing spring is just as good as heal area, Energizing wind to bring down the cost of high-end spells, etc, etc.
But mostly Serpent's Quickness. Yeah.

I'm quite enjoying my N/Rt (Restoration). Without Divine Favour to separate the two, the healing is comparable to Healing Prayers'... But Restoration also offers damage (e.g. Vengeful Weapon) and protective effects (e.g. Weapon of Warding).
Incidentally, the comment that "it doesn't matter because PVE is so easy" is singularly unhelpful. Never mind that it assumes a certain level of competence and familiarity (not that I'm ascribing any sort of N00bishness to the OP); it also ignores the fact that - regardless of power level - finding cool synergies and builds is a part of the innate 'fun' of PVE.
...So if I say something like "Rt/E is a cool combo because you can play both Earthbound and Gale for fun and nonprofit", then the statement that "who cares, PVE is easy" is neither here nor there.

N/E is best for MM because of glyph of renewal and verata's sac. Flesh golem isn't that amazing and does the same amount of dmg as the other guys just slower. He can take a beating. If your monk or rit is doing his/her job that shouldn't be an issue in the first place.
PvE is all arggo control and nothing more. You can win with anything you bring long as you have decent heals and know how to control the arggo.
Taking that same attitude to PvP will get you kicked from teams or turned down. So yes it does matter if its PvP or PvE. PvP it matters what you bring. PvE it doesn't matter as long as you don't leeroy every group you see.

I would say /Mes and to a lesser degree /Ele are fine, but /Mo would give you a greater degree of versatility. To be honest, I'm having a hard time thinking of a "bad" choice. I think you could take /Mo, and then simply buy the /Mes secondary profession, and Arcane Echo, and if you want to play Echo SS you can simply switch to /Mes temporarily for it.

hehe i would love seeing that Me/N try MM with weakling lvl 12 minions and limited energy.
imo if u want to be N u need soulreaping, its uber imba geting 15 energy per kill. be it bloodspike, order, MM, SS or what ever build.
beter ways to heal minions than heal area.
my fav be N/Me not only for echo but hex removal and disechanting is also rather useful.

I'm perfectly happy with my N/Mo for MM'ing. When I need to switch to Curses, I switch my secondary to Me. These setups work well for me. N/E does sound interesting though.
